Job Summary The National Account Sales Manager will be responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with national account customers. Develops strategic account plans to drive growth and profitability aligned with company objectives. The position requires strategic planning, business management and ability to build strong business relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities
Define strategic customer account plans including performance objectives and financial targets for national account customers of varying size.
Develop and execute strategic and tactical sales plans to maximize sales growth and enhance profitability
Establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts
Proactively assess, clarify and validate customer needs on a regular basis
Lead solution development efforts that best address customer needs coordinating with key internal resources
Track and evaluate sales performance against defined targets
Effectively manage budget and trade spend
Monitor market and industry trends utilizing professional publications, professional groups and other sources of data
Conduct research to identify and establish new accounts
Partner with Culinary and chain accounts to bring new ideas such as creative product development ideas, new packaging options, product line extensions, etc.
Manage external broker network including training, setting annual performance targets and monitoring execution.
Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business reporting for assigned national accounts.
Lead contract negotiations, pricing proposals, and RFP/RFQ responses to secure profitable business agreements.
Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure seamless execution and alignment with customer expectations.
Serve as the primary escalation point for customer issues, working cross-functionally to ensure timely resolution and strong customer satisfaction.
Prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews (QBRs) outlining performance, insights, and strategic recommendations.
Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)
Qualifications
Four year college degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of strategic sales experience in a consumer goods environment; cheese industry preferred
Experience in National Account Sales
Knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors and leading customer strategies
Strong negotiating and influencing skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft office, databases and other business systems
Skilled in facilitating customer and group meetings
Effective time management and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication including effective presentations
Extensive travel required
