About Your Role As the Income Tax Manager at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll oversee domestic income tax compliance and ensure accurate, timely filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. You will partner with leadership to identify efficiencies, minimize tax liability, and maintain strong internal controls to reduce organizational risk. Your day‑to‑day duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage domestic income, franchise, and gross receipt of tax compliance including federal, state, and local returns, quarterly estimated payments, annual extension payments and monthly account reconciliations.
Calculate and review book‑to‑tax adjustments, state apportionment calculations, and state modifications.
Understand facts without much guidance and recognize issues and opportunities.
Recognize and develop process improvements and planning opportunities, and bring them to management’s attention.
Maintain internal controls as required under Sarbanes‑Oxley.
Initiate the preparation of income tax calculations, income tax payments, and income tax returns.
Have a strong understanding of tax law and compliance software.
Develop and train staff.
Stay abreast of current tax law changes and increase tax knowledge through continuing education and training.
Your Required Skills and Experience
B.A. or B.S. degree is required.
5‑7 years of Income Tax experience or equivalent public accounting experience.
Experience in preparing Federal and State corporate tax returns.
Preferred Requirements
CPA candidate desired.
Experience with tax compliance software desired.
Strong PC skills including MS Office.
Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written & verbal) to clearly answer questions from auditors, tax department members, and other company personnel.
Good problem‑solving skills.
Strong analytical skills.
