Position Overview The Area Sales & Catering Manager is responsible for driving group and catering business across the Medford Collection by proactively soliciting and converting new accounts, growing existing relationships, and developing strategic initiatives to increase occupancy, catering sales, and hotel revenue performance. This individual will work closely with property leadership to ensure seamless service delivery, guest satisfaction, and optimal financial results.

Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development

Proactively develop and grow corporate, group, and social catering business through direct sales, cold calling, account saturation, and networking.

Build and maintain relationships with key accounts and community partners to exceed revenue goals.

Create and execute tailored sales and marketing strategies to maximize profitability for assigned hotels.

Collaborate with Sales, Revenue Management, and on-property leaders to align on rate strategies and business mix.

Catering & Event Management

Solicit, negotiate, and secure catering events including meetings, conferences, and social functions.

Lead the planning process from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring exceptional service and client retention.

Assist clients with menu planning, AV needs, room setup, and service enhancements.

Create and manage Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and process invoices as required.

Assist with event supervision and provide support during peak activity to ensure flawless execution.

Stay informed on market trends and competitor activity to identify and capitalize on revenue opportunities.

Establish and meet monthly property revenue goals for both rooms and catering.

Maintain accurate and updated accounts, activities, and reports through CRM systems.

Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports and contribute to forecasting efforts.

Support and train property-level sales team members to uphold brand and Colwen standards.

Partner with all departments to provide aligned communication for operational success.

Represent Colwen Hotels professionally at community and industry events.

Requirements

2+ years

of hotel sales and catering experience required

Strong understanding of hotel operations, F&B standards, and event logistics

Excellent verbal, written, negotiation, and presentation skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new software tools (e.g., Delphi, iPlan)

Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Compensation Salary Range:

$65,000 – $75,000 annually Based on experience and qualifications.
