The Role: Community Outreach Sales Representative
(Healthcare Software Field Sales Representative - Houston, TX, Part-Time, Contractor, 3 months with possibility of extension )
Our healthcare startup is developing an innovative maternal digital mental health platform for clinics, providers and patients. Our solution increases access to insurance‑covered affordable services for OB/GYN and primary care providers to onboard patients to care while addressing the critical shortage of mental health professionals. We're seeking market intelligence on the evolving landscape of healthcare practices and the healthcare practice market.
Position Overview We're seeking a motivated, business‑minded individual to join our team as a part‑time Sales Field Representative in Houston, Texas. This role will focus on connecting with OBGYN, Family and Internal Medicine clinics to introduce our HIPAA‑compliant remote therapeutic monitoring solution for maternal mental health. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for healthcare innovation, and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms, and ideally have prior experience in communicating confidently in the healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
Attend virtual paid training for approximately 10‑20 hours in the first week
Conduct in‑person outreach to OBGYN, Family Medicine and Internal clinics in the Houston area through cold‑calling, cold in‑person visits and warm email campaign follow‑up
Follow up with clinicians and administrative staff to identify the buyer of the product within their health system
Schedule product demonstrations for clinicians and buyers to be presented by CEO
Develop and maintain relationships with key decision‑makers in target clinics
Collect feedback from potential customers to inform product development
Track sales activities and maintain accurate records in our CRM
Attend local healthcare networking events and conferences
Generate leads and contracts to fill out spaces for Q4 clinic launch
Provide weekly progress reports and participate in team meetings at least 2x per week
Meet 2x weekly with executive leadership, including the CEO
Confident, professional communication skills: That the next best step is speaking with executive and technical leadership
Your personal expertise at Tandem Community and your role to book appointments
The value of the product to practices, providers and patients, while technical aspects are best shared by the leadership team
Transportation Requirements
Must be able to drive safely, responsibly and legally
Must maintain personal automobile and associated legal documentation
Must be able to travel to pre‑qualified clinics in Montgomery, Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Liberty Counties
Contractor is responsible for automobile care, maintenance and related expenses
Contractor maintains they are legally allowed to drive in the designated locale and with the automobile selected
As a 1099 contractor transportation expenses are not compensated or reimbursed by the company
Qualifications
This role is great for a young professional or advanced college/university level student with entry‑level experience (1‑4 years) in healthcare or software sales
Those with traditional background in healthcare (i.e., nursing or public health) or technology sales are encouraged to apply
Previous sales experience (1‑4 years preferred) in either healthcare or software is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable with cold‑calling and cold in‑person sales approaches
Basic understanding of healthcare systems and terminology (training will be provided)
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Proficient with basic office software and CRM systems
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Knowledge of maternal/women's health and practice operations/responsibilities is a plus
Time Commitment
Training: Up to 16 hours in week 1 (compensated)
Field Sales: 8‑10 hours per week during regular clinic business hours 9‑12am, 1‑3 pm
Administrative Follow‑up: 2‑4 hours per week
Team Meetings: 1‑2 hours per week
Continuous Training: 2 hours per month
Flexible schedule with some evening/weekend availability required for follow‑up meetings
Details Part‑time 1099 NEC position: ~15 hours per week for 3 months
Month‑to‑month contract with KPIs measured monthly
Possibility of extension after 3 months dependent on performance
Hourly rate ($12‑$15/hr) for twice weekly team calls, field visit preparation, email follow up with contacts through the CRM
Rates may be adjusted based on experience and demonstrated performance
Contractor is responsible for tech devices and internet connection
Remote work with in‑field activities throughout the Houston metropolitan area
