Senior MBSE Drafter – Patuxent River, MD

This role will lead advanced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) drafting efforts to design, simulate, and analyze system behavior across manned and unmanned airborne, shipborne, fixed, and mobile platforms—including integrated sensor systems.
This role will be instrumental in refining MBSE tools, workflows, and methodologies to improve design accuracy, data traceability, and collaborative system integration. The Senior Drafter will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce detailed digital models that support mission‑critical systems.
Base pay range:
$75,000.00/yr – $100,000.00/yr Contract award contingent.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain system models using MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, or Enterprise Architect.
Translate system and subsystem requirements into detailed functional and behavioral models.
Apply systems engineering principles to support lifecycle development, integration, and verification activities.
Refine and optimize drafting processes to enhance efficiency and model fidelity.
Ensure compliance with DoD and industry MBSE standards, frameworks, and best practices.
Collaborate with engineering, analysis, and design teams to model complex systems and support technical reviews.
Support configuration management and documentation of model artifacts for traceability and audit readiness.
Requirements
Active Top Secret security clearance.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years supporting DoD programs focused on sensor technologies and systems.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Technical, Computer Science, or IT discipline (or qualifying equivalent experience).
Expertise with MBSE environments, system modeling languages (SysML/UML), and systems engineering processes.
Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Department of the Navy or other service branches within NAVWAR or NAVAIR commands.
Familiarity with digital engineering ecosystems and model‑based documentation workflows.
Certification in MBSE or Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE ASEP/CSEP or equivalent).
