Specialty Restaurants
The purpose of the Banquet Server is to interact with guests and ensure that they have a great experience when dining and meeting at the restaurant. They are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, Special Events Food servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
The Banquet Server will follow through with the proper and timely set‑up and execution of banquet events. Set up includes tables, chairs, stages, dance floors and audio‑visual equipment. They are required to maintain a high degree of professionalism and keep all equipment and facilities organized, clean and safe. The Banquet Server sets up and prepares banquet rooms for functions, and also serves, buss, clears and breaks down banquet rooms at the end of the function.
Pay: $15.50 – $18.00 per hour
Job Duties
Picks up food and carries trays to the function location.
Sets up functions (including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks and placing table centerpieces).
Communicates any areas of need, problems, or concerns from guests to the Banquet Manager.
If no upcoming events, keeps rooms in a readiness position for any possible site inspections and re‑sets meeting rooms for the next contract if it is within one day of the previous event.
Keeps inventory of all equipment in order and stored in appropriate areas.
Works with Guest Services to transport items needed for outdoor events outside the restaurant.
Provides all group guests with a lasting experience of the resort to encourage return business.
Maintains proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling glasses.
Delivers alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks to guests’ tables.
Opens and pours wine at the table side properly.
Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by a supervisor.
Greets all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
Adheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
Understands and can communicate products and services available at the resort.
Serves and clears food from tables.
Busses and breaks down tables, putting away dirty linen and centerpieces.
Ensures the surroundings in the function room are properly cleaned, vacuumed, light bulbs functioning, and no stains on the wall; brings any deficiencies to the attention of a Captain or Manager.
Observes guests’ needs without being obtrusive and anticipates guests’ needs rather than just reacting.
Sets up creative and professional buffets that are inspected for cleanliness and functionality prior to being opened for guests.
Is knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and restaurant policies.
Wears approved, manufacturer‑certified slip‑resistant or non‑slip shoes at all times while working.
Participates in and passes alcohol awareness and safety training classes.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or 1 year similar experience preferred.
Banquet serving experience preferred.
