About The Role The Service Project Sales Representative is an individual‑contributor position responsible for driving mechanical retrofit and replacement project sales within commercial, industrial, institutional, and government markets. You will identify customer needs, design solutions, and secure profitable project agreements while building long‑term client relationships.
This role is ideal for a technically minded sales professional who excels in consultative selling, problem solving, and presenting solutions that improve system performance and energy efficiency.
What You’ll Do
Identify, qualify, and pursue mechanical retrofit or replacement project opportunities.
Estimate and design mechanical system solutions, including hydronic piping, refrigerant piping, sheet metal, electrical fundamentals, and basic load calculations.
Conduct outbound prospecting and cold calls to engage commercial, industrial, institutional, and government customers.
Build value by presenting solutions that enhance system reliability, performance, and efficiency.
Prepare proposals and present solutions to individuals and stakeholder groups.
Negotiate project agreements, including financial payback analyses when required.
Partner with internal Operations teams to ensure successful turnover and project execution.
Collaborate with Construction, Design‑Build, and Performance Contracting teams when cross‑functional opportunities arise.
Manage your sales pipeline, schedule, and activities to meet annual revenue targets.
Participate in industry associations such as BOMA, ASHRAE, and AEE to strengthen professional networks.
Maintain accurate documentation and follow established sales processes.
SALES EXPECTATIONS
Execute the complete sales cycle: Prospect → Qualify → Survey → Verify → Propose → Close → Manage Relationship
Typical annual sales quota: $1,000,000 in new project agreements
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of outside sales experience
10+ years of experience with HVAC retrofit projects (technical, sales, estimating, project management, or service background accepted)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering
Experience selling into the Cleveland/Akron commercial market
Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn mechanical system principles

WORKING CONDITIONS
Office/field hybrid role with regular local travel
Visits to mechanical rooms, rooftop units, and equipment spaces required
Must be able to safely climb ladders, inspect equipment, and navigate mechanical environments (training provided)
Occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, dust, or confined spaces
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasional standing, walking, and stair climbing
Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs
Ability to climb ladders and access equipment safely
