The Tree Care Groundsman/Laborer supports tree care operations by assisting climbers, operating equipment, maintaining work sites, and ensuring all tasks are performed safely and efficiently. This is a physically demanding outdoor position that requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities: Ground Operations
Assist climbers and arborists during tree pruning, removal, and trimming operations.
Manage ropes, rigging systems, and communication with climbers.
Cut, chip, and haul brush and wood debris using chainsaws, chippers, and hand tools.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work site.
Equipment & Tools
Operate equipment such as wood chippers, stump grinders, blowers, and chainsaws.
Perform basic maintenance (fueling, cleaning, inspections) on trucks, tools, and equipment.
Safely load and unload tools and materials.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
Participate in daily safety briefings and hazard assessments.
Assist in setting up work zone signage, cones, and traffic control as needed.
General Labor
Rake and remove debris, drag brush, and assist with ground cleanup.
Support storm cleanup operations as required.
Communicate clearly with crew members to ensure efficient workflow.
Qualifications
Previous experience in tree care, landscaping, or outdoor labor preferred (willing to train).
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
Basic understanding of chainsaw or outdoor power equipment use (training provided).
Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and ability to work well in a team.
Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
Ability to follow verbal instructions and safety protocols.
Experience with erosion & sediment controls preferred (training provided)
Work Environment
Outdoor, physically demanding work that includes lifting, bending, dragging brush, and standing for long periods.
Exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
Occasional overtime or emergency storm response may be required.
