About the Role
The primary purpose of the Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator position is to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of the education programs targeting injury in the surrounding communities of The New Jersey Trauma Center at University Hospital. Identifies and promotes individual and public awareness of injury control and prevention needs and sound practices. Utilizes Hospital and community resources and strives toward injury control and prevention. Provides outreach support to pre-hospital emergency medical service agencies
Responsibilities What You’ll Do
Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs focused on injury prevention in communities served by The New Jersey Trauma Center at University Hospital.
Identify and promote awareness of injury prevention needs and best practices for individuals and the public.
Utilize hospital and community resources to support injury control and prevention efforts.
Provide outreach support to pre-hospital emergency medical service (EMS) agencies.
Ensures that the Trauma Division is appropriately represented on internal, local, regional, and state task forces and committees (e.g., UH Community Outreach Committee, NJ Trauma Council, Safe Kids, City of Newark Steering Committees, etc.). Represents the Trauma division at local and national meetings/conferences, serving as an expert on injury prevention and outreach.
Coordinates the Screening, Brief, Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) program for the Trauma Division. Provides screening, Identification, and brief interventions for the at-risk trauma patients. Facilitates appropriate referrals to addictionmedicine for at risk trauma patients. Maintains ongoing data regarding positive screens and interventions provided.
Qualifications What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Two (2) years of health education experience required.
Experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care environment preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for education requirements.

The expected salary range for this position is PS-26S: $74,989 - $90,407 - $107,705 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
