Job Summary The Car Salesperson is responsible for assisting customers in finding the right vehicle that fits their needs, lifestyle, and budget. This role involves selling both new and pre-owned vehicles, guiding customers through the sales process, and providing exceptional customer service. The salesperson will also maintain an in-depth knowledge of the dealership’s inventory, features, and promotions to effectively communicate with customers and close sales.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement:

Greet and engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.

Provide expert knowledge on new and used vehicle inventory, including features, specifications, and pricing.

Conduct test drives with customers, explaining vehicle features and answering questions.

Sales Process:

Present vehicle options based on customer preferences, budget, and needs.

Negotiate pricing and financing options with customers to ensure a successful sale.

Close sales by completing all required paperwork and guiding customers through the purchasing process, including trade-ins, financing, and warranties.

Product Knowledge:

Stay updated on vehicle features, specifications, and promotions.

Maintain knowledge of industry trends, new models, and competitor offerings.

Be able to effectively demonstrate vehicle features and benefits during walk-arounds and test drives.

Customer Relationship Management:

Build and maintain long-term customer relationships to ensure repeat business and referrals.

Follow up with customers post-sale to ensure satisfaction and address any additional needs or concerns.

Manage and maintain a customer database to track leads and prospects.

Sales Targets and Performance:

Meet or exceed monthly sales quotas and performance goals.

Track sales progress and report results to management regularly.

Actively prospect for new customers through leads, walk-ins, and outbound efforts.

Administrative and Record Keeping:

Complete necessary paperwork, including sales contracts, vehicle registration, and financing documentation.

Maintain accurate customer records, ensuring compliance with dealership policies and regulations.

Coordinate with finance and insurance teams to process all paperwork related to vehicle sales.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other sales team members to meet dealership sales goals.

Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and service, to ensure a smooth and seamless customer experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (required); a college degree is a plus.

Previous sales experience, preferably in the automotive industry or retail sales.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with customers.

Comfortable with negotiating and closing sales.

Self-motivated with a passion for providing excellent customer service.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with dealership management software and CRM systems.

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods and walk around the dealership lot.

Ability to drive various types of vehicles during test drives and demonstrations.

Ability to lift up-to 25 lbs (e.g., paperwork, promotional materials).
