The VIS plays a lead role in advocating for patients by utilizing a multidisciplinary approach of recovery and healing through collaboration of acute care medical services and long-term community-based services, and by addressing barriers to obtain equitable opportunity for medical care, behavior health, and social service interventions.**Required Qualifications: Violence Intervention Specialist*** High school diploma or equivalent required* Associate degree (consider enrolled students working towards degree) or 2 years of direct experience with community-based violence required* Effective verbal, written communication, interpersonal and listening skills are required.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work as part of a multidisciplinary team is required.* Ability to apply various interviewing techniques with diverse groups of people is required.* Ability to network with and provide information to key groups, individuals, and stakeholders is required.* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact is required.
The ability to maintain poise and professional courtesy under pressure is required.* Writing and typing skills required to keep accurate case documentation.* Strong organizational skills required.* Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
