Our client is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to support their growing HVAC/R construction and retrofit projects. This role is responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for HVAC systems in commercial settings. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience in mechanical estimating, communicates clearly, builds lasting relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and integrity are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC systems

Analyze construction documents, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and pricing

Collaborate with internal teams across project management and design to ensure seamless coordination

Attend client meetings and help prepare formal bid proposals

Conduct quantity take-offs and assign material and labor costs based on current market data

Lead estimating efforts on assigned bids, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met

Engage in value engineering and cost-benefit analysis to optimize pricing

Build and maintain vendor, subcontractor, and client relationships

Solicit, evaluate, and select subcontractor proposals

Track and analyze bid results to refine future estimates and improve win rates

Support business development with proposal support and presentations

Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure estimates align with execution plans

Conduct bid follow-ups to gather client feedback and finalize project awards

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in mechanical/HVAC/R estimating

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred

Proficient in estimating and construction software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, QuoteSoft, Excel)

Solid understanding of HVAC/R components, systems, and construction practices

Experience with projects ranging from tenant fit-outs to large-scale mechanical systems

Ability to read and interpret MEP construction documents and plans

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously

Familiarity with local and national building codes and industry standards

Outgoing personality with strong relationship-building skills

Previous use of estimating software is a required
