Salary/Wage: $19.00 - $21.00/hr (DOE)

Job Summary/Description
KEYC News Now is looking for a reporter/multimedia journalist. The ideal candidate will connect with the community, understand quality storytelling, and gather their own content. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under a deadline are essential. Responsibilities include shooting, writing, voicing, and editing stories for television and the internet, as well as live reports. Social media and online news production skills and strong time‑management are required. Candidates must be able to carry 35 to 45 pounds of equipment and hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record. Availability for various schedules and a team‑player attitude are also necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities
Create and deliver compelling news content by reporting daily news stories using ENG equipment.
Use a “think like a viewer” mindset in covering local news to identify what viewers will find relevant.
Edit video blending natural sound with field interviews and reporter track.
Write clear, concise, balanced news copy.
Shoot video using the station’s broadcast‑quality ENG equipment.
Furnish a minimum of 3 story ideas daily.
Use the newsroom computer system to gather and write news stories.
Update station website and social media accounts throughout the day.
Adhere to station branding, promotion, safety rules, and assist in implementing new safety initiatives.
Other duties as requested by News Director and/or Assignment Manager.
Qualifications/Requirements
Excellent writing skills, news judgment, and ethics.
Driven to develop original news content.
Understanding of digital/social media platforms and strategy.
Produces content with urgency and immediacy.
Strong work ethic, organization, and leadership skills.
Integrity, accountability, teamwork.
Broadcast journalism experience and a media‑related bachelor’s degree (communication, journalism, or related field) with a clean driving record.
