More information Essential Duties and Responsibilities Remove or install emergency lighting, two‑way radios, sirens, radar, video, cages, and miscellaneous emergency or communications equipment in county vehicles or facilities. Troubleshoot and repair emergency lighting, two‑way radios, sirens, radar, and video equipment, as well as problems related to vehicle wiring. Install, troubleshoot, and repair base stations for two‑way radio/communications systems. Coordinate planning and systems design with various persons and departments to develop and implement emergency equipment systems. Requisition, order, and pick up parts and maintain inventory. Use personal computer to program two‑way radios and keep records. Coordinate with various departments to schedule work. Coordinate with vendors for the repair and/or replacement of defective equipment and the purchase of new equipment. Schedule calls to the precinct garages to install equipment on big road equipment. Calculate and file billings for repairs. Assist in budget preparation. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements High School diploma, GED or approved equivalent; technical electronics, radio/communications installation and maintenance experience; four to five full‑time years of technical experience with two full‑time years installing and repairing radio and video equipment. Advanced level and demonstrated working knowledge of electronics, video equipment, radio equipment, and emergency lighting systems. A current and valid Class C driver’s license is required upon hire. If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing. Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that may include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years, credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment; each case is considered individually. Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stoop, bend, climb, twist and kneel.
