Overview
As Director of User Experience Design you will lead a high‑impact team that shapes the experience of Splunk’s products across the broader ecosystem. Your work ensures that user experiences scale across jobs, personas, and product lines, providing insightful, cohesive, and increasingly effortless interactions.
Responsibilities
- Defining and overseeing work on key product experience objectives.
- Allocating resources and assignments across teams and initiatives.
- Managing budgets, staffing, and operational considerations.
- Reviewing, critiquing, and elevating design quality and outcomes.
- Partnering with peers and executive leaders in setting product strategy.
- Providing hands‑on direction, insight, and coaching at the project and portfolio level.
- Building, mentoring, and inspiring the team while contributing to broader leadership of the UX organization.
- Breaking down silos and investing in ways to improve our shared culture and product experience practice.
- Seizing integration opportunities that add value to customers with Cisco.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of UX design experience in B2B or B2C across regulated industries.
- 10+ years of leading large UX research or product design teams at enterprise‑scale organizations.
- Experience with class‑leading products in data analytics, observability, network security, incident management, or data visualization.
- Strong research‑driven, customer‑centered design portfolio demonstrating business outcomes (time to value, churn reduction, adoption, usage).
- Ability to run and navigate organizational change and lead through ambiguity.
- Fluency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Suite, Miro.
- Experience managing global, asynchronous teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including speaking to executive audiences.
- M.A./M.S./Ph.D. or equivalent in User Experience Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, UX Research, Data Science, or related field.
- Proven leadership style that adapts to context, builds bridges, and maintains integrity.
- Experience evaluating UX maturity in acquisitions or large integrations.
- Passion for systems thinking and solving large, cross‑product challenges.
- Excitement for emerging technologies like AI that differentiate our solutions.
Benefits and Compensation
Starting salary range: $230,100.00 to $325,300.00 (U.S. & Canada). Compensation is determined by location, market, skillset, and experience.
U.S. employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, paid parental leave, short‑ and long‑term disability, basic life insurance, and potential Cisco restricted stock units.
Paid time off: 10 paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, 1 birthday day, 1 year‑end shutdown, 4 wellness days, 80 hours of sick time (initial & carry‑forward), optional volunteer days.
- 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non‑exempt employees.
- 1 paid day off for employee’s birthday, paid year‑end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness.
- Non‑exempt employees receive 16 days of paid vacation per full calendar year.
- Exempt employees may use flexible vacation time with no defined limit.
- 80 hours of sick time provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, up to 80 hours carried forward.
- Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer.
Eligible for annual bonuses (non‑sales roles) and incentive pay on sales plans.
State‑specific salary ranges:
- New York City Metro Area: $230,100.00 – $374,100.00
- Non‑Metro New York State & Washington State: $216,500.00 – $337,000.00
