The
Superintendent
is responsible for overseeing the execution, supervision, and completion of industrial mechanical construction projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality and compliance with industry regulations. The Superintendent coordinates with project managers, subcontractors, and field personnel to optimize labor, materials, and schedules for efficient project execution.
Essential Duties, Roles, Responsibilities & Procedures
Project Execution & Supervision:
Oversee all field construction activities to ensure alignment with project plans and schedules.
Workforce Coordination:
Manage site labor, ensuring the right personnel are assigned to appropriate tasks.
Schedule Management:
Develop and maintain construction schedules to ensure timely project completion.
Quality Control:
Monitor work progress and enforce adherence to industry and company quality standards.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all workers follow OSHA and company safety regulations.
Subcontractor Management:
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors to maintain project efficiency.
Material & Equipment Management:
Ensure timely delivery and availability of necessary materials and equipment.
Issue Resolution:
Identify and resolve field issues to avoid project delays.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed of local, state, and federal construction regulations to ensure compliance.
Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain regular communication with project managers, engineers, and site personnel.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of daily construction activities, safety incidents, and work progress.
Performance Evaluation:
Assess workforce efficiency and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in
Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
preferred.
OSHA 30 certification
required.
Must possess any licenses or certifications required by state or local regulations.
Experience:
Minimum of
7+ years
of experience in industrial mechanical construction.
At least
3 years
of supervisory or leadership experience on construction sites.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of
industrial construction methods, materials, and best practices .
Ability to read and interpret
construction blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications .
Proficiency in
construction scheduling software
(e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).
Strong leadership and decision‑making skills
to manage field operations effectively.
Excellent problem‑solving abilities
to address project challenges and maintain workflow.
Effective communication and collaboration skills
to coordinate with project teams and stakeholders.
High attention to detail
to ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
Commitment to workplace safety , ensuring adherence to OSHA and company policies.
Ability to work under pressure
and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction sites for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to
50 lbs.
occasionally.
Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
Primarily
field‑based , working on active construction sites.
Exposure to
outdoor weather conditions, high noise levels, and industrial work environments .
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required on job sites.
Travel Requirements:
May require
frequent travel between project sites
and occasional overnight stays depending on project demands.
