About Madrigal
Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non‑alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.
Opportunity and Summary of Position Thought Leader Liaisons (TLL)
The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) at Madrigal Pharmaceuticals is a commercial role as a dynamic leader with deep customer knowledge and passion to exceed organizational success. This position focuses on building and fostering strong partnerships with Thought Leaders in academic and clinical medicine to support the launch of Resmetirom, a ground‑breaking therapy for Metabolic Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH). As a TLL, you play a key role in executing brand and disease‑state strategies through impactful Thought Leader engagement, generating brand and market insights, and contributing to the management of the Commercial Speaker Bureau. You will collaborate across functions and act as a trusted resource and partner. Reporting to the Director of Thought Leader Liaisons, this role combines exceptional communication skills and field‑marketing expertise with a commitment to advancing education, advocacy, and patient care in MASH. The ideal location for this role is Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, or Omaha.
Position Responsibilities Thought Leader Engagement
Serve as the commercial Customer Engagement lead for assigned Thought Leaders at the regional level to advance brand and disease‑state strategies.
Cultivate and maintain long‑term commercial relationships with Thought Leaders, including emerging Thought Leaders and regional influencers.
Engage Thought Leaders on strategic imperative topics by conducting market research and generating insights to inform brand strategies and tactics; execute regional marketing initiatives and innovative tactics.
Track assessment of Thought Leader alignment to marketing brand strategies, monitoring changes over time.
Connect Thought Leaders with other relevant parts of the organization (e.g., Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs) to execute strategies and uncover unmet needs while maintaining compliance with guidelines on appropriate medical‑commercial collaborations.
Identify and recruit HCP advisors in support of business needs such as commercial advisory boards and other projects, in collaboration with TLL Directors.
Congress Planning and Execution
Develop and execute comprehensive congress plans in close collaboration with marketing and cross‑functional partners, including strategic Thought Leader engagements with senior leaders and other internal partners.
Strategically plan, execute, and report on national and regional congress activities, which could include product theaters, sponsorship opportunities, and Thought Leader interactions.
Speaker and Program Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for regionally aligned speakers to streamline program logistics and communication.
Help strategically plan and execute regional programming based on educational needs in collaboration with regional RSD and ABMs.
Support the planning and execution of annual speaker training meetings in collaboration with the HCP marketing team, and ensure ongoing speaker training and development for speaker effectiveness.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Deploy a cross‑functional collaborative Thought Leader approach with the regional team, ensuring synergy and commercial alignment; coordinate commercial activities and ensure company resources meet Thought Leader needs.
Collaborate across all functions (RSDs, MSLs, HQ functions, etc.) to develop and implement a comprehensive Thought Leader regional plan and strategy, informed by Thought Leader and market insights.
Qualifications and Skills Required
BA/BS degree or higher in business, marketing, or life sciences.
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or hospital environments.
2+ years of previous experience in a TLL or similar field‑marketing role.
2+ years of experience working with Thought Leaders in MASH‑related specialties—Hepatology, GI, and/or Endocrinology preferred.
Exceptional leadership skills, including building strong relationships, navigating complex interpersonal dynamics, demonstrating empathy, and adapting communication styles to diverse cross‑functional teams.
Experience supporting the launch of specialty products.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and address problems systematically.
Understanding and support of compliance with OIG and regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with the economics of health care at both private and public levels of payment and delivery.
Ability to travel as needed (50‑75% expected based on territory geography).
A valid driver’s license is required.
Compensation Base salary is determined by several factors, including qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands.
