Position Summary The On‑Call Resident Care Associate (RCA) provides personal care, companion care, nursing assistance and other assigned tasks to residents living in Eskaton communities. Duties include direct resident care, assisting in daily living activities, grocery or personal shopping, errands and other domestic tasks as well as documenting care provided. Duties and assignments may be adjusted at the discretion of the Resident Care Director or Memory Care Director based on an evaluation of resident needs.
The starting salary for this position ranges from $20.00 to $24.98 per hour, with factors such as scope of responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, job‑related skills, internal peer equity, and market considerations influencing the final offer.
Position Responsibilities Include
Provides companion care including reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, and assisting with bill‑pay or other tasks as listed on the resident’s plan of care.
Assists or performs bathing or showering for thorough cleanliness and hygiene of the resident.
Maintains a clean and organized resident care area by making beds and straightening rooms.
Assists residents in dressing when needed while respecting privacy.
Promotes independence in resident care and demonstrates awareness of safety for both resident and self.
Assists with simple range‑of‑motion or other exercises directed by a nurse or therapist, and ambulates residents according to their endurance levels. When directed by the plan of care, assists resident to site fitness program or individual events.
Applies medical or adaptive devices as ordered by an appropriate physician, physician extender, or supervising nurse.
Collects specimens as directed by the Resident Care Coordinator, Memory Care Coordinator, or Wellness Nurse.
Follows prescribed Eskaton emergency protocol and all internal policies.
Qualifications Education High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred. Proficient oral and written communication in English.
Training And Experience Six (6) months experience in providing personal care in a residential or long‑term care setting preferred. Valid/current first aid certification.
Job Knowledge Knowledge of performing personal care services in a residential environment. Ability to respond appropriately to new or stressful situations; ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team; ability to share information freely, seek supervision and consultation verbally and in writing, and follow both verbal and written instructions.
The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton’s post‑offer pre‑employment testing, which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test, and health screen. All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.
