Fire Chief Craig Wright is seeking to fill a vacancy for a full-time lieutenant position with the Pierce Township Fire Department and to create an eligibility list for a period of no less than 6 months. Our full-time lieutenants work a 48hr work week utilizing the 24/48 schedule with a three (3) week Kelly Day.
This position is a full-time (non-exempt) covered under a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with IAFF Local 4979. Starting annual pay per the present CBA is $83,257.
A Pierce Township lieutenant is a company level supervisory position providing leadership and personnel management all while ensuring the understanding, compliance and support of directives, policies, and guidelines. As a company officer, the lieutenant responds with other firefighters and EMS personnel and participates in both the mitigation and management of all types of emergency incidents.
The ideal candidates to be considered for this process must possess an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration or related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience. Three years of experience in a township, municipal fire department, or fire protection district providing both fire and emergency services, considerable supervisory and managerial experience is required.
Certifications preferred to be considered for this process include: Ohio Firefighter I & II, Ohio Paramedic, Ohio Fire Safety Inspector or HRO, NIMS (100, 200, 700, 800), and a valid passenger vehicle or commercial vehicle driver’s license. (IFSTA), an assessment center, a complete background investigation, drug screen, physical, polygraph examination, and/or psychological examination.
