About the Role
Designs components or portions of Piping systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer‑aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as AUTOCAD, SHIP CONSTRUCTOR and NAVISWORKS. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Full knowledge of the job and a clear understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the position and their practical applications to common problems and situations. Works under limited supervision with no instructions needed for routine work, general instructions provided on new lines of work or special assignments. Duties and tasks are varied and moderately complex, resolving most questions and problems while referring more complex questions to higher levels. Frequently contacts individuals from other departments and outside organizations to obtain or provide information or data on matters of moderate importance to the department’s function or of sensitive nature.
Requirements
Associate's degree or other 2‑year technical degree in a related discipline and 3 years of experience. (A combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of a degree)
Nice to Have
Proficiency in the use of SHIP CONSTRUCTOR and AUTOCAD for supporting design and extraction/development of new drawings or Siemens NX for generating VWI - Virtual Work Instructions.
