Position Summary We’re seeking a highly skilled
Structural Engineer
with proven experience in the design of steel truss bridges for vehicular and pedestrian applications. This position plays a key role in advancing U.S. Bridge’s reputation for precision engineering and reliability. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with creative problem‑solving and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Structural analysis and design
of steel truss and beam bridges for vehicular and pedestrian projects.
Prepare detailed
engineering calculations, design drawings, and specifications
in accordance with AASHTO LRFD, state DOT, and local standards.
Collaborate with internal fabrication, drafting, and field teams to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
Conduct
load rating analyses, inspections, and rehabilitation assessments
for existing bridge structures.
Provide technical input for proposals, cost estimates, and project feasibility studies.
Review shop drawings and submittals for technical accuracy and compliance.
Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Coordinate with project managers to maintain schedules, budgets, and quality standards across multiple concurrent projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
required; multi‑state licensure a plus.
Minimum
5 years of experience
in the design of
steel truss or modular bridge structures
(vehicular and/or pedestrian).
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as
STAAD, RISA, SAP2000, or Midas Civil .
Working knowledge of
AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications ,
AISC , and
AWS
standards.
Familiarity with
AutoCAD ,
Tekla Structures , or
Revit
for 3D modeling and detailing coordination.
Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with design, fabrication, and construction teams.
Preferred Attributes
Experience with
prefabricated modular bridge systems
and accelerated bridge construction (ABC) methods.
Strong understanding of
fabrication workflows
and how design decisions impact cost and schedule.
