Position Overview The primary role of the Senior Manager is to protect company assets and reduce inventory shortage by leading the Asset Protection (AP) Operations teams. The team is responsible for leading, developing, prioritizing, and implementing policies, procedures, and cross‑functional initiatives that support AP strategies to reduce theft and fraud in stores. They also create training programs for store employees to improve process execution and increase shortage awareness, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements.
Day In The Life
Identify industry AP best practices, competitor practices, and technology opportunities to improve store efficiency and reduce labor spend.
Govern all AP standard operating procedures, policies, and influence other store SOPs to prevent shortfalls.
Lead the Shortage Assessment process in stores, validate compliance, and drive actions to address deficiencies.
Partner with AP Strategy and Analytics to measure and improve AP practices, delivering performance metrics and action planning.
Coordinate with Store Operations, AP Strategy, Analytics, Learning & Development, and other partners to enhance shortage reduction tools such as SCA program, Shortage Highway, Silent Partner, Hi‑5, B‑Aware.
Build partnerships with Store Operations, Field Leadership, Procurement, Finance, Store Innovation, Merchants, PIC, Legal, and others to secure support and implement recommendations.
Generate innovative ideas to protect merchandise via emerging technologies and stay ahead of industry trends.
Define project success criteria and lead cross‑functional teams to deliver results within timelines.
Utilize company communication tools (BPLANNER, Field Leadership News, FirstUp, eCourses, etc.) to reinforce Asset Protection programs.
Collaborate with corporate and field AP leaders to refine onboarding processes and assess training effectiveness.
Develop and implement a change‑management strategy to support process and technology transformation.
Reduce inventory shortage by developing, implementing, and managing merchandise protection pilots and initiatives.
Oversee physical inventory planning, execution, and record‑keeping to maintain best‑in‑class practices.
Responsibilities & Key Focus Areas
Spearhead and amplify AP operational processes and programs (35%).
Develop strategies and drive improvement in shortage results (35%).
Spearhead AP communications, training, and change management (20%).
Manage merchandise protection strategy to improve shortage results (5%).
Oversee physical inventory planning and support (5%).
You'll Come With
BA/BS degree in Operations, Engineering, Business, Strategy, or a related field (MBA preferred).
Minimum 7–10 years of experience focused on store operations in retail at a leadership level; experience in shortage control, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations preferred.
Strong leadership and project‑management skills, with the ability to manage corporate and field resources, including higher‑level executives.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex findings to senior executives.
Comfortable working in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with multiple simultaneous projects.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
High reliability and accountability for daily, weekly, and long‑term projects.
Superior analytical skills, both mathematical and problem‑solving.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Hybrid Position Must work from the Burlington, NJ office 2 days per week, every other week. Occasional travel required.
