Performs difficult skilled technical work processing building permits, conducting field inspection and reinspection for completion of new construction, remodels, and repairs of residential, commercial, and industrial properties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Real Property Appraiser. Continuous oversight is exercised over all personnel within the team.

Performs field inspections and appraisals of all residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Processes building permits for all residential, commercial, and industrial properties; measures, list, appraise, sketch, and perform data entry for all work.

Answers inquiries concerning appraisal valuation, processes, etc.

Assists the public with information requests on property ownership, value, legal description, purchase price and date of purchase.

Composes and maintains the County's sales ratio study by reviewing sales and submitting a report to the State Department of Revenue.

Performs all commercial land splits and combinations and updates maps as well as assigning subsequent values.

Processes and handles all commercial complaints.

Processes property releases and discoveries.

Trains and supervises subordinate appraisers.

Performs damage assessments after storms and disasters.

Performs other assigned duties.

Thorough knowledge of the practices of real estate appraising for assessment purposes.

Some knowledge of buildings and land values.

Some knowledge of the State laws, charter provisions and County ordinances relating to real property assessing.

Ability to analyze factors which tend to influence the value of property and to exercise judgment in the determination of property values.

Ability to write clear and concise reports.

Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and associates.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Real Property Appraiser Certification within two years of hire.

Valid driver’s license.
