Role Overview As a Commercial and Specialty Banking Relationship Manager I, you will ensure the overall success and growth of an assigned portfolio by deepening relationships with existing clients and by acquiring new clients, while cross‑selling lending, depository, and Treasury Management products. You will manage the existing portfolio of clients, monitor client relationships for compliance with credit standards, maintain insurance on bank collateral, and review loans for accurate grades. You will handle relationships greater than $2 million in credit exposure and over $25,000 in fee income. Additionally, you will provide financial advice and counsel regarding trends and conditions of the business environment, review loan documents, and maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
Review clients’ credit needs, design solutions, and negotiate credit terms, loan repayment methods and collateral specifications.
Deepen existing client relationships and acquire new clients.
Cross‑sell lending, depository and Treasury Management products to new and existing bank clients.
Monitor portfolio compliance with credit standards and update financials.
Maintain insurance on bank collateral and review loans for accurate grades.
Provide financial advice and counsel regarding business environment trends.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including BSA, OFAC, consumer protection, privacy, and non‑discrimination laws.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
7+ years of relevant experience.
Good managerial, communication and sales skills.
Desired Qualifications
MBA or master’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
7+ years of commercial or specialty experience.
7+ years of commercial credit experience.
Completed formal credit training program.
Strong communication and sales skills.
Skills and Abilities
Strong business development skills and understanding of credit and business finance.
Strong networking skills and participation in market‑area networking events.
Competent in operation of standard office equipment including computer, fax, ten‑key calculator and phone.
Competent in use of standard office software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
Solid knowledge of banking policies, regulations and compliance issues.
Solid ability to analyze financial statements and basic accounting principles.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong interpersonal skills to build team cohesiveness and deliver bank products and services.
Self‑directed and motivated to accomplish tasks and meet objectives.
Strong oral and written communication skills with clear articulation.
Work Environment
Office setting with traditional hours.
Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).
Must be able to work extended hours as necessary.
Must be able to travel as necessary.
