Save Job

Empower Pharmacy is seeking Medical Information Specialists to serve as clinical experts on our compounded therapeutic products. In this role, you will function similarly to a Medical Science Liaison, focusing on specialty areas such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), integrative/functional medicine, IV nutritional therapy, weight management, sexual health, mental health, and related off‑label treatments.

You will report to the Clinical Application Director and/or the VP of Medical Affairs, working remotely with periodic travel to company offices (Houston, TX; East Windsor, NJ) and national conferences. Your primary mission is to ensure that healthcare providers and internal teams have a deep understanding of Empower’s products – including their evidence‑based uses, off‑label applications, anecdotal clinical outcomes, and supporting published literature – to ultimately improve patient care. This is a highly collaborative role interfacing with both external clinic customers and cross‑functional internal teams (sales, marketing, medical affairs), making it ideal for experienced clinicians who are passionate about education and bridging cutting‑edge therapies with real‑world practice.

Duties and Responsibilities Medical Expertise & Information Support

Serve as the go‑to expert on all Empower compounded medications and therapies. Respond to unsolicited medical information requests from healthcare providers (and occasionally patients) by researching and delivering accurate, evidence‑based answers about our products’ uses, dosing, safety, and efficacy. This includes providing information on both on‑label and off‑label uses in a fair, balanced, and non‑promotional manner, backed by clinical data and literature. You will maintain an up‑to‑date repository of scientific information (e.g. standard response letters, clinical FAQs) for quick dissemination of answers.

Clinical Education & Training

Translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear educational content for various audiences. You will develop and deliver training sessions on product knowledge and relevant disease states to internal staff – for example, educating sales and customer service teams so they can better support clients. Additionally, you will provide external training and support to our partner clinics and prescribers, such as hosting webinars or on‑site sessions to update them on new research, treatment protocols, and real‑world best practices using Empower’s therapies.

Function in a field‑based capacity similar to a medical science liaison by building relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and high‑prescribing healthcare practitioners in relevant fields (endocrinology, anti‑aging medicine, urology, sexual medicine, weight management, etc.). Proactively reach out to clinics that use or could benefit from Empower’s products, offering clinical consultation and sharing insights on therapeutic trends and patient outcomes. Your role is to be a trusted clinical resource – not a salesperson, but a peer expert who can discuss case experiences, off‑label approaches, and emerging research in these specialized domains.

Medical Marketing & Content Development

Collaborate closely with the marketing and commercial teams to ensure scientific accuracy and clinical relevance of all product‑related content. You will help craft white papers, case studies, provider brochures, and digital content that highlight our therapies’ mechanisms, benefits, and supported uses. In doing so, you’ll leverage both published literature and anecdotal prescriber‑level outcomes to tell the story of our products. (For example, you might summarize recent studies on bioidentical hormone therapy or compile success stories from clinics using a particular IV nutrient compound.) All content must be medically sound and compliant with regulations, while effectively communicating value to practitioners.

Conference Representation & Medical Affairs Support

Serve as a visible clinical expert for Empower at industry conferences and trade shows. This includes preparing medical booths or presentations and engaging with attendees (physicians, NPs/PAs, pharmacists, etc.) who have questions about our products. At events such as A4M, AMMG, AUA, SMSNA and other relevant conferences, you will staff the medical information booth to provide face‑to‑face scientific exchange about Empower’s therapies. You’ll document any complex inquiries that require follow‑up and ensure responses are provided post‑conference. These meetings also allow you to gather the latest field insights and bring back learnings to the team.

Provider Communication & Support

Act as a medical concierge for our clinic clients. Routinely check in with key clinics to offer support – for instance, notifying them of new research or new formulations available, and helping troubleshoot clinical questions about therapy protocols. When clinicians encounter challenging patient cases or adverse reactions related to our products, you will assist in interpreting information and options (within the scope of medical information, not making treatment decisions for the provider). Your goal is to enhance customer experience by being a readily accessible clinical consultant on our team.

Work cross‑functionally to align medical insights with business strategy. You’ll partner with sales and account managers by providing them with up‑to‑date scientific talking points and training (ensuring they stay within compliance). You may join high‑level sales meetings or webinars with prospective clients to lend credibility and answer in‑depth clinical questions. Internally, you will also feedback trends – e.g. if multiple providers are asking about a particular off‑label use, you’ll alert R&D or marketing to consider developing resources or products for that need.

Compliance and Documentation

Maintain high standards of regulatory and ethical compliance in all medical communications. Document all medical inquiries and responses in our system per SOPs, including tracking common questions and emerging off‑label interest areas. (For example, if we see a surge of inquiries about a compounded peptide for weight loss, log and report this trend.) Ensure that all written and verbal information provided is accurate, non‑misleading, and aligned with pharmacy regulations and guidance for medical information practices. Assist pharmacovigilance efforts by appropriately recording any adverse events or product quality complaints that come to your attention during interactions.

Knowledge and Skills

Excellent ability to communicate scientific information clearly to both medical and non‑medical audiences. You should be a confident presenter and educator, capable of distilling research data into practical insights. Strong writing skills are also important for creating educational and marketing content. Experience conducting provider training or patient education in the past is a plus.

A knack for collaboration with sales/marketing teams and an understanding of the commercial aspect of medical products. While this is not a sales role, you will succeed if you understand how improving provider knowledge and comfort with a therapy can drive its adoption.

Prior experience supporting product launches, giving promotional medical talks, or working cross departmentally in a business setting is beneficial.

Self‑Motivated & Service‑Oriented: This is a largely self‑directed role, especially given its remote nature. You should be proactive in seeking out ways to support our customers and internal colleagues. A customer‑service mindset is critical – we are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about helping practitioners deliver better care.

Optimizes Work Processes: Know the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Situational Adaptability: Adapts approach and demeanor in real time to match shifting demands of different situations.

Experience and Qualifications

Clinical degree required – Registered Nurse (RN/BSN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

Advanced training or certifications in relevant specialties (e.g. American Academy of Anti‑Aging Medicine (A4M) or Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) certifications) are highly desirable, as they demonstrate expertise in integrative and hormonal health.

Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on clinical experience in fields related to Empower’s product areas. Ideal candidates have worked in settings such as HRT clinics, integrative/functional medicine practices, wellness or age management clinics, metabolic/weight loss centers, men’s or women’s health clinics, or similar environments where compounded therapies are utilized. This experience should have given you a strong foundation in managing therapies like bioidentical hormones, peptide treatments, IV nutrients, and other off‑label protocols, as well as an understanding of their real‑world outcomes.

Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time. This includes visiting our Houston, TX and East Windsor, NJ facilities periodically for training or team meetings, and representing the company at national trade shows or medical conferences as needed. (Travel to major events such as A4M, AMMG, AUA, SMSNA, etc., will be required on a planned basis.) A valid driver’s license and ability to travel by air are required.

Must hold an active clinical license (e.g. RN, NP, PA, RPh/PharmD license) in good standing. You should have a strong understanding of healthcare ethics and compliance. Familiarity with FDA regulations on drug information and advertising (especially regarding off‑label information dissemination) is a plus, as is knowledge of compounding pharmacy regulatory standards.
