Gift Shop Sales Key Holder, 2nd shift (Part-Time) NC Aquarium Society
Summary The North Carolina Aquarium Society is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves as the support organization for North Carolina’s three aquariums on the coast (Fort Fisher, Pine Knoll Shores, and Roanoke Island) and Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, N.C. This is not a position with the State of North Carolina.
The Gift Shop Sales Key Holder reports to the Gift Shop Manager and is responsible for helping to promote and support the North Carolina Aquariums by creating an atmosphere that promotes a positive visitor experience and offering individualized customer service that reflects our mission. The key holder works with management and, in the absence of management, to make sure operations run smoothly by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for opening and closing duties in the absence of management.
Ensures the registers are activated, reconciled, posted properly, and locked or opened doors.
Confirms that deposit slips, envelopes, and deposit bags are correctly filled out and discrepancies are recorded, rectified, and communicated to management.
Processes all point-of-sale transactions, including voids, returns, and price overrides.
Helps customers by providing information, answering questions, obtaining merchandise requested, and completing payment transactions.
Maintains PCI compliance and ensures staff are compliant.
Upholds immaculate store presentation and merchandising “stories.”
Handles housekeeping and maintains the appearance of the store and its assets.
Handles merchandise, merchandising products, moving products, replenishing, and tagging.
Responsible for loss prevention.
Responsible for leading the associates in everyday tasks.
Maintains solid product knowledge.
Maintains awareness of stock needed from “offsite.”
Records damages on the damages notebook for the manager to adjust out of inventory.
Handles specific customer relations problems that may transpire in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.
Trains, motivates, and coaches associates when necessary and appropriate.
Demonstrates professionalism and integrity while helping the store manager create trust and respect within the team.
Guarantees all employees to know company projects, sales activities, and promotions.
Remains current on all company policies and procedures and ensures all employees work according to them.
Promotes and sells aquarium memberships and adopt-an-animal.
Promotes and asks for donations for conservation.
Required Experience/Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The abovementioned requirements represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability. High school diploma. Retail experience preferred.
Ability to lift moderately sized boxes and goods weighing up to 35 lbs.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Pass a criminal background check.
This is a non-exempt, part-time position with an hourly starting rate of $16.25.
