Community Support Specialist CSTAR
Compass Health Network – Columbia, MO (Onsite) Full‑time
Schedule: Monday – Friday (some weekend hours possible). Eligibility for benefits. Compensation: $25.54 hourly; $26.81 hourly for Master’s holders.
Essential Functions – Job Specific
Provide individualized and group education that supports clients’ recovery and resiliency goals using a motivational, stage‑matched approach.
Assist clients in identifying strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences and participate in developing a Wellness Plan.
Offer holistic services integrating coaching on the Eight Dimensions of Wellness.
Support completion of Wellness Plan goals, updating them as achievements occur or priorities shift.
Help clients access public services (financial, housing, emergency assistance, food) and maintain contact during hospitalization, discharge planning, and after‑care.
Provide daily living, employment/education, symptom management, communication, budgeting, and residence maintenance education to promote independent function or referral to long‑term supports.
Facilitate development of personal support systems, including collaboration with family members, legal guardians, and recovery communities.
Assist clients with accessing services, accompany them to appointments, follow up on appointments, form completion, and receipt returns.
Contact consumers with unexcused absences to re‑engage them and promote recovery efforts.
Meet service provision expectations per client needs and company guidelines.
Complete documentation and paperwork within required timeframes.
Collect and process urine drug screens.
Integrated Health Team
Communicate actively with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, specialists, nurses, dentists, NCMs, and others about client wellness and medication management.
Seek and incorporate Integrated Health Team input on Wellness Plans.
Determine needed services and provide hand‑offs to those services.
Make referrals to additional services and providers as needed for clients.
Liaise with family, employers, schools, probation/parole, courts, and other stakeholders involved in the client’s treatment.
Miscellaneous
Provide information about the RCORP grant and substance‑use services via meetings and outreach.
Carry program phone on a rotational basis for a week at a time and answer during business hours (RCORP only).
Seek culturally competent services to meet the unique cultural needs of each client and family member.
Assist clients with transportation as clinically indicated; driving is an essential function.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Exposure Risk Regular exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids.
Job Requirements
High School/GED required.
Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in a human‑service‑related field preferred.
Valid driver’s license and agency‑established minimum automobile coverage required.
Work Experience
Must qualify for position based on overall CSS requirements in at least one of the following options:
Qualified addiction professional.
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from a college or university in the U.S.
Any four‑year degree or combination of higher education and qualifying experience.
Four years of qualifying experience.
Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support.
Qualifying experience must include delivery of service to individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or developmental disabilities.
