As an Account Management Consultant, Client Services supporting Optum’s Payment Network (S3 directed spend), you will serve as a functional subject matter expert and company thought leader, shaping strategies that anticipate emerging customer needs and industry trends. You’ll influence senior leadership, develop pioneering approaches, and lead large‑scale initiatives that have segment‑wide impact. This role requires a broad business perspective and the ability to translate highly complex concepts into actionable strategies that drive measurable outcomes, improving authorization rates, expanding benefit acceptance, and elevating merchant experience in a sophisticated payments ecosystem. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Influence

Participate in shaping business strategy and market‑level priorities

Influence senior leadership to adopt innovative ideas, products, and approaches

Serve as a resource to executives on emerging trends and competitive positioning

Thought Leadership & Innovation

Predict evolving customer needs and design solutions that set industry benchmarks

Develop pioneering approaches to improve merchant experience and network performance

Business Planning & Execution

Build and manage business plans aligned to growth, compliance, and operational excellence

Lead large, complex projects that deliver key business objectives across product, integration, legal, and operations

Client Advocacy & Relationship Management

Own executive‑level relationships with strategic merchants and partners

Drive adoption of value‑added services and ensure alignment with network rules and compliance standards

Complex Problem Solving

Resolve unique and high‑impact challenges across technical, operational, and organizational dimensions

Translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences

Success Measures

Segment‑wide impact on merchant activation, retention, and program revenue

Growth in spend coverage and adoption of advanced capabilities

Delivery of strategic roadmap milestones on plan

Improved NPS and reduction in operational incidents

Required Qualifications

10+ years in enterprise account management or client services within payments, fintech, or retail tech ecosystems

6+ years leading large‑scale, multi‑stakeholder programs with measurable impact

3+ years working with payment networks, merchant onboarding, and integration processes

Proven experience influencing senior leadership and shaping business strategy

Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Recognized industry thought leader with experience driving innovation in regulated environments

Prior responsibility for top‑tier accounts and executive‑level engagement

Work Location & Travel

Remote

0‑20% travel for merchant reviews, industry events, and leadership meetings

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far‑reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
