Overview
Outside Sales Representative
is a position that will be tasked with finding and developing new sales primarily with local contractors and builders in the Kansas City market. This is accomplished by identifying target customers, making sales calls, visiting job sites, and assisting customers in a timely and efficient manner with their projects and providing in-depth product knowledge. Sales techniques, developing customers, following through, and strong communication are all important aspects of this position. The individual must be a self-starter with a hard work ethic, strong organizational skills, and clear and likeable communication. The ideal candidate must be comfortable and committed to selling differentiated solutions at a cost premium, converting targets that are currently using a market standard product/solution. Requirements to be Considered for the Position : Previous experience selling building materials to contractors and builders with a focus on single-family new construction is strongly preferred. Ability to follow and adhere to a consultative approach. Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify, and close new clients. Must be able to propose multiple solutions to the end user based on the client’s unique business needs. Ability to manage and work a flexible schedule and provide dependable transportation for sales calls in the trade area along with working remotely as needed. Sales & Relationship Building
Identify target customers, gain, and maintain new market share in the Kansas City Metro area. Collect and keep up-to-date information on customers’ product use and trends. Determine appropriate credit programs based on customer’s needs. Meet and/or exceed monthly sales and profit goals by following up on sales leads, monitoring market trends, and growing the positive reputation of the company. Ensure customer satisfaction by assisting with product recommendations and communicating scheduling and delivery commitments. Keep lines of communication open between internal team members and customers to ensure that services and products are accurately and timely delivered and meet expectations. Commitment to initial and continued education about company product lines, packages, procedures, and more. Benefits Provided (full-time employees)
Medical Insurance, 401k with company match, bonus pay, commission pay, auto allowance & phone allowance. Pay will be based on prior experience and level of new sales generated. We offer a base salary with commission pay based on sales and profit goals being met. Job Types:

None Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sells a variety of merchandise such as lumber, engineered components, and building materials to contractors/builders. Increases sales by executing and implementing a pull-through strategy, converting contractors/builders to differentiated products/solutions/services. Portrays a professional outward sales appearance common to the industry. Assists in design/product recommendations based on client’s needs. Responsible for scheduling orders and account maintenance. Demonstrates good personal relations towards customers creating a win-win situation. Makes cold calls by phone and in person daily. Generates new customers. Meets/exceeds agreed-upon goals, monthly/quarterly/annually. Additional Responsibilities
Keeps abreast of current product developments in the industry. Communicates information pertinent to competition, market conditions, credit, and accounts’ needs and requirements. Qualifications - Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or equivalent two-year college; or two to four years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires valid vehicle operator’s license in the state of residence. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to adhere to a defined sales process - from cold outreach through commitment/close. Mathematical skills to calculate using simple geometry and algebra. Reasoning ability to define and articulate solutions to problems. Effectively and persuasively present proposals while overcoming objections. Proficient with common software applications - Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. Essential Physical Requirements
Employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Adverse Working Conditions
May occasionally be exposed to weather and dust when visiting a job site.
