Job Purpose The Dealer Sales Manager is tasked with achieving assigned sales targets within their designated territory by developing and maintaining a strong network of Honda Marine dealers. This role involves directly selling Honda outboard motors and rigging components to dealerships and managing account relationships at all levels, from dealer principals to sales personnel. The Dealer Sales Manager will also support dealer sales initiatives, represent Honda Marine at key dealership events, and oversee dealer co‑op advertising programs. Additionally, this position requires regular reporting on market and industry trends to drive wholesale and retail sales goals for Honda Marine products.

Key Accountabilities Dealer Network Development (Prospecting)

Actively identify, engage, and develop new dealer partnerships while expanding and maintaining a strong network of dealer partners in the marine industry.

Territory: NJ, PA, MD, DE, VA and WV.

Account Relationship Management

Manage and strengthen relationships with existing dealer partners to ensure alignment on objectives and foster long‑term collaboration.

Achieving Sales Objectives

Meet or exceed sales targets for Honda outboard engines and related products through strategic planning and execution.

Market and Industry Report

Provide regular reports on market trends, competitive analysis, and industry insights to inform sales strategies and decision‑making.

Training

Coordinate and deliver training on Honda Marine products and rigging components to dealer partners, ensuring they are knowledgeable and confident in the product line.

Event Representation

Represent Honda Marine at key dealer and industry events, trade shows, and dealer meetings to enhance brand visibility and build relationships.

Co‑op Advertising Support

Assist dealers in utilizing co‑op advertising funds effectively to promote Honda Marine products and enhance brand awareness.

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

4‑year degree in Marketing or Business or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of Marine Industry experience.

Expert knowledge of boats and marine equipment.

Experience in selling marine outboard engines or similar technical products is preferred.

Relationship Management: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with dealership partners and internal staff.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of outboard engines and their applications on boats, including basic technical specifications and benefits.

Job Dimensions Financial Dimensions: Manage a $5 million+ territory.

Working Conditions

Travel: Requires 70% travel to visit dealer partners, attend industry events, and support sales activities.

Physical Demands: Involves heavy lifting and manual labor at tradeshows and dealer events.

Work Schedule: Includes regular weekend work and travel to accommodate industry events and dealer meetings.
