Position Summary Rotating through our warehouse, counter sales, and inside sales departments on the way to becoming an Inside Sales Representative. Engage in training classes, webinars, and on‑the‑job training to understand why customers buy and how to make yourself valuable and profitable. The roadmap is an intentional process built to provide the necessary background and experience for success when you are ready to call on customers. Our Sales Trainees move through various positions, with each step providing another building block, so they can be confident and effective in their Inside Sales career.
Inside Sales Trainee Program Summary Each rotation will be a hands‑on experience to understand how to enter a sale all the way through getting it packed, delivered, and invoiced correctly to our customers. Each rotation will expose the trainee to different situational experiences requiring problem solving and dedication to serving our customers and fellow employees. Along the way, our Sales Trainees engage in training classes, webinars and on‑the‑job training designed to accelerate his or her understanding of how to better serve our customers. Roadmap Rotations
Warehouse – ~6 Weeks
Counter – ~6 Months
Product Groups (Gear/Lighting/Pipe/Wire/OnPoint) – 3–6 Months
Inside Sales with Assistance – ~3 Months
Training Responsibilities
Learn and effectively communicate United’s value proposition to our customers
Develop relationships with vendors leverage for future sales calls
Participate in self‑paced web‑based trainings for sales and product training, including two 6‑month NAED EPEC modules to build foundation of electrical distribution
Work closely with internal departments, combining individual efforts to better serve the customer
Inside Sales Representative Responsibilities
Sell to customers over the telephone and digitally, discussing with them their specific requirements, product information, pricing, and timeframes for product delivery
Perform ECLIPSE sales system order entry
Communicate to the customer technical information received from internal company or manufacturer. Include long lead times or ship delays
Arrange with vendors to source materials and prices needed by the customer that are not common stock to United Electric
Solve customer problems including loss shipments, damaged items, returns, emergency needs, and billing issues
Collaborate with expeditors and other internal departments to ensure a prompt, accurate delivery
Continuous learning of product and industry knowledge enabling better communication and greater sales with the customer
Proactively alert customers of sales and special promotions to generate additional sales
Maintain Weekly Open Order Report, Customer Calling Queue and other customer files as needed
Follow up on open quotes and provide feedback to pricing or product groups
Keep up to date on all ECLIPSE trackers, addressed in under a day
Process Credit Card Sales according to company policies as needed
Communicate with Outside Sales Representatives and the Pricing Department to change customer pricing in ECLIPSE if necessary. Keep price overrides to a minimum
Meet or exceed sales budget by proactively seeking new business and participating in selling programs and promotions
Work closely with all internal departments, combining individual efforts to better serve the customer
Perform other duties as obvious or assigned
Safety Sensitive Position
May be required to operate powered industrial trucks
Must be able to lift 50 lbs several times a day, bend, twist, and climb
Adhere to all United Electric health, safety, and environmental policies
Act in a safe and positive manner always, ensure that those around you do not put themselves or others at risk. Your personal safety is your responsibility
Complete an accident/Incident report for any safety and/or health infractions that occur or witnessed

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
A high degree of interpersonal understanding
Experience in effective conflict resolution
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
