Alcohol Manager Job Description

Job Summary:
The Alcohol Manager is responsible for assisting customers with wine selections, maintaining a well‑stocked and organized wine section, and ensuring compliance with store policies and alcohol regulations. This role requires strong customer service skills, product knowledge, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales
Greet and assist customers in selecting wines based on their preferences, food pairings, and special occasions.
Provide recommendations and educate customers on different wine varieties, regions, and vintages.
Assist with wine tastings and promotional events as needed.
Stocking & Merchandising
Maintain proper stock levels and ensure the shelves are fully stocked and organized.
Rotate inventory to prevent expired or damaged products from being sold.
Assist in setting up seasonal displays and promotional signage.
Compliance & Store Operations
Follow all state and federal regulations regarding alcohol sales, including checking customer IDs when necessary.
Keep the wine section clean and orderly.
Assist with receiving, pricing, and tagging wine shipments.
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous experience in retail, grocery, or wine sales is preferred.
Knowledge of wine varieties, food pairings, and industry trends is a plus.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Must be at least 21 years of age to be able to sell alcohol.
Certain certifications can be beneficial such as: Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training.
