Description
The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) is primarily responsible for calling on independent stores to sell Ken’s and Campbell’s products, presenting new items and obtaining authorizations, selling in promos, and managing some merchandising. The OSR follows monthly priorities from business managers for each client and helps coordinate store events such as anniversary sales, demos, new store openings, remodel expansions, and other promotional sales activities.
Responsibilities
Visit assigned stores in the territory monthly.
Present new items for clients and secure orders for them.
Present promotional activity to store buyers and secure orders, including off‑shelf displays when possible.
Ensure existing items are distributed and displayed properly.
Assist with merchandising needs for our products.
Collaborate with stores on special projects such as demos, remodels, and new store openings.
Maintain current knowledge of products and new items.
Communicate issues with stores, competitive activity, and trends to management.
Maintain full distribution and display of products in assigned accounts.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience Requirements
Five or more years of relevant experience within Consumer‑Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or retail preferred.
Customer service: Comprehensive understanding of the marketplace.
Presentations: Ability to present products and display opportunities to store/market personnel.
Relationship building: Develop and maintain relationships with store decision makers, including district and market managers.
Sales goals: Set and meet monthly sales quotas.
Collaboration: Collaborate with client and customer teams.
Expertise in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and web‑based applications.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Maintain current knowledge of products and new items.
Valid driver’s license; able to drive a car for extended periods of time.
Available for occasional overnight travel.
Effective communication with others.
Physically able to walk, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, grasp, stand, and work on a daily basis; able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
