G5 Trail Collective- Community Engagement Specialist
G5 is seeking a dynamic individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to interact with the outdoor recreational public at large. This includes racing events and related activities. Build and keep an organized database (industry, athletes, local business, schools, camps) related to the outdoors. Manage social media platforms. Create and use photography and video to showcase on social media. Create events and festivals from development to execution with related partners. The candidate will be an employee of the G5 Trail Collective, working out of Camp Grier in Old Fort, NC.
Duration: 5 years+
Knowledge and Skills
Have charismatic and commanding communication skills with the public, partners, volunteers and coworkers. Must be an enthusiastic storyteller.
Have the ability to work with a broad range of user groups, foster good working relationships with the outdoor industry, local business, special outdoor groups.
Have skills to recruit, manage, and support volunteers, industry partners, vendors, and related outdoor professionals.
Have excellent organizational skills and be able to manage a database of related outdoor industry contacts.
Provide social media content (write ups, good photography, videos, etc.) that engages the community, and collaborate with Camp Grier’s marketing team.
Develop and produce events related to the outdoors, collaborating with Camp Grier’s Event Director when appropriate.
Willingness to travel to events on weekends and some evenings.
Preferred Additional Knowledge & Skills
WFA or WFR or similar First Aid.
Basic database knowledge (familiar with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Salesforce, etc.).
Basic social media skills (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, X, etc.), use of a camera and video.
Basic website management skills (Wix specifically).
Education Outdoor Recreation or a combination of related fields of study.
Physical Demands The candidate will occasionally need to lift, push, pull carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Be able to arrive very early or stay very late at events.
Work Hours The position will require frequent weekends and some evenings to engage with the general public, event participants, and other outdoor professionals. The candidate will be required to play a key role in the development, planning and implementation of G5 and other related events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the USFS, G5, race director partners, Camp Grier staff and other outdoor industry partners to plan, coordinate, and implement events that benefit the community and enhance the G5 story.
Develop and execute from beginning to end, 2 major weekend events per year and 5 one-day events per year.
Recruit and host volunteers, athletes, industry professionals, local business in a professional manner that builds interest and repeat participation in the G5 story and related Camp Grier activities.
Travel to race events and festivals on weekends, engaging with racers and spectators. The goal is to recruit volunteers for trailwork, network with industry professionals and encourage the public and businesses to visit Old Fort for recreation, work and retreat.
Attend afterwork events and festivities to engage and network with outdoor professionals and related partners.
Make and create excellent photography stills and video to showcase at events, festivals and social media that are related to G5 and Camp Grier. The storyline should be positive and encouraging and shall entice the public to be part of the G5 mission and visit Old Fort.
Manage an outdoor professionals database and communicate frequently with those partners along with the G5 Projects Manager and related staff at Camp Grier as needed.
$65,000 per year
Retirement: Camp Grier will match, up to 3%, of an employee contribution to the Camp.
Time off: Camp Grier will provide three weeks of paid time off to be used at the employee's discretion.
