About The Role The
Structural Foreman
will oversee all aspects of steel erection, rigging operations, and potentially barge-based construction activities. You’ll manage crews, coordinate with crane operators and rigging teams, and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and to project specifications.
This position is ideal for a leader who thrives in hands-on, dynamic environments and understands the demands of industrial construction jobsites and heavy structural construction work.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate crews involved in
steel erection, rigging, and potentially barge operations
Read and interpret
engineering drawings, lift plans, and rigging diagrams
Plan daily activities, allocate labor, and ensure productivity and quality standards
Work closely with
crane operators, welders, riggers, and marine crew
to execute lifts and installations
Maintain strict adherence to
safety procedures , including safety planning, fall protection, rigging, and crane safety regulations among others.
Conduct daily safety and coordination meetings with crew
Oversee inspection, maintenance, and proper use of rigging gear and equipment
Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality control requirements
Coordinate with project management to plan, report progress, resolve issues, and schedule upcoming work
Assist in training and mentoring less-experienced crew members
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years’ experience
in structural steel or heavy rigging operations
At least
2 years of supervisory experience
as a foreman or lead hand
Solid understanding of rigging,
crane operations, lift planning, and potentially barge stability principles
Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural and rigging drawings
Valid certifications in
rigging, fall protection, and crane signaling
(preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills
Experience working in
marine environments
or on floating equipment is a plus.
Must be safety-focused and capable of working in physically demanding outdoor conditions
