Requirements Minimum: Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR active enrollment in an accredited baccalaureate program with at least 60 credits attained. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a commander position.

Preferred: Successful completion of FBI National Academy or Southern Police Institute, Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS), National Criminal justice Command College, or comparable senior leadership level training.

Additional Requirements: Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license or obtain within 60 days of employment. Must be a certified law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia; or become a certified law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia within one year of employment.
