Position Summary Oversees the daily operations and strategic direction of the district’s accounting and payroll functions, including general accounting, payroll, contracts accounting, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting and control, and financial reporting. Ensures all financial activities are conducted in compliance with the Board of Education’s policies, district business policies and procedures, state and federal fiscal management laws and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Director of Accounting is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and transparent financial reporting, supporting annual audits, and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard district assets. This role works cross‑functionally with departments such as Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Talent Management, and Federal to support operational efficiency and financial integrity across the organization. In addition, the Director of Accounting provides leadership in the development and implementation of financial systems, participates in budget planning and execution, and plays a key role in policy development related to fiscal operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree with accounting emphasis
Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible accounting experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities preferred
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Knowledge of district and audit requirements for the provision of financial information
Knowledge of financial record‑keeping procedures, laws, regulations, and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
