Acacia Network, a leading nonprofit in New York City, is hiring a Housing Specialist to assess and address housing needs for individuals experiencing homelessness. The role focuses on client intake, case plan development, and partnership with subsidized housing programs.

Base pay range $27.47/hr – $27.47/hr

POSITION OVERVIEW Housing Specialist assesses housing barriers and determines housing and service needs. Develop a housing procurement, financial, and self‑sufficiency case plan with clients, including intake interview and goal setting.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assesses housing needs upon referral from other providers.

Develops and maintains housing resources and assists clients in finding permanent, affordable housing.

Facilitates the prioritization of project‑eligible individuals for participation.

Procures and places participants in affordable housing and determines participant income resources that could offset subsidy amount.

Works in partnership with HUB’s housing offices to manage timely payment of subsidy funds for apartment rent, utility payment, and one‑time furnishings.

Maintains documentation of client progress in case records according to all contractual & regulatory standards.

Coordinates services and communicates to team about clients’ housing progress along with case reviews and case conferences.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree.

Minimum of two years of experience in a housing program.

Must obtain Mandated Reporter training/certificate within 30 days of hire.

HQSI Certification is a plus but not necessary.

Basic social work experience preferred.

Strong leadership, excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment.

Ability to multitask and function under pressure.
