- Full-time position (Monday-Saturday, or Monday-Friday - have done it both ways depending on employee's wishes) - Daily care of 13 horses (number sometimes fluctuates, generally more in the spring/summer, less in winter) - feeding, watering, turnout/turn-in, cleaning stalls, providing hay/filling water in paddocks, basic barn clean up (this usually takes 4-5 hours per day on average) - As needed property management work - things like (but not limited to): dragging arenas, cutting grass, fixing fences, cutting up downed trees, brush hogging fields, light snow plowing, fixing sheds, larger cleaning and organization projects, general farm maintenance and upkeep. Requirements:
- Must have at least some experience working with horses, the more the better! - Comfort/experience working with tractor and zero turn lawn mower as well as other common farm tools. - Knowledge of upkeep and maintenance of the machinery would be a huge bonus! - Ability to drive a horse trailer would also be a plus - but definitely not required! Compensation:
Weekly pay + housing (including utilities) *Weekly pay will differ based on specifics of arrangement. Possibilities:
- Open to a couple if one person has horse experience and one has machine/maintenance experience or something like that (it would not be a full-time job for two people, but it could be split). - Housing - there are a couple of different housing options available, one can accommodate either a single person/couple, another that can accommodate a family. - Opportunity to bring horse(s) - we are open to someone who wants to bring their own horse(s). - Opportunity and space to raise other livestock (chickens, cows, goats etc.) and/or grow veggies, flowers etc.
