About the Role The Production Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all technical production aspects of events held at the Joe V. Knox Auditorium within the Charles Mack Citizen Center. This role also supports production needs for town-sponsored festivals, concerts, and special events. The Production Coordinator ensures high-quality audio, visual, and lighting experiences for performers, renters, and audiences by overseeing equipment usage, maintaining technical standards, creating operational procedures, and serving as the primary technical liaison for clients and performers. This position also provides technical consultation during equipment upgrades and AV support throughout the facility.

This part-time role requires a detail-oriented, technically skilled professional capable of managing multiple events, problem-solving in fast-paced environments, and delivering seamless live production experiences for a diverse array of performances and community events. The Production Coordinator works independently and collaboratively to ensure every technical element runs smoothly, from pre-event planning to post-event wrap-up, while directly engaging with performers, vendors, and internal staff.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical lead for all events in the Joe V. Knox Auditorium, including concerts, theater productions, recitals, and presentations.

Operate and maintain audio, lighting, and visual systems, including the newly upgraded sound system and upcoming lighting system.

Consult on and oversee technical upgrades, including lighting renovation projects.

Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for AV, sound, and lighting equipment.

Meet with clients and renters to assess technical requirements; provide pre-event consultations and walkthroughs.

Coordinate and manage technical setup, operation, and strike for performances and events.

Provide AV support in banquet and meeting rooms throughout the Charles Mack Citizen Center.

Maintain inventory of technical equipment and recommend repairs or purchases.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.

Support town-sponsored events, including outdoor concerts, festivals, and community programs.

Review and coordinate technical riders, staffing, and equipment needs for performers.

Train and oversee part-time or volunteer production assistants as needed.

Serve as on-site technical contact during events, managing vendors and executing technical production.

Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Three to five years of related experience in live event production, technical direction, or stage management.

Strong knowledge of soundboards, lighting consoles, AV systems, and stage production equipment.

Preferred:

Associate degree in Theatre Production, Technical Arts, Event Management, or related field with five years of experience.

Special Requirement:

Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
