Overview
Community Wellness Specialist - Oakland MHS role at Sycamores. This position focuses on wellness and building resilience through interventions, linkages, and referrals to appropriate community resources. The role develops coping and problem-solving skills to promote safety and attachment and facilitate transfer of these skills into the home, school, and community. Interventions are provided to maintain youth at home or support transition to home, and are developed within the child and family team process. Starting pay range: $21 - $25 per hour. Starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.
Responsibilities
Provide interventions that develop coping and problem-solving skills to promote safety and attachment. Teach transference of skills into home, school, and community; maintain youth at home or assist with transition to home. Work within the child and family team process; focus on wellness and resilience through interventions, linkages, and referrals to community resources.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or AA degree with one year of direct care experience required; two years of direct care experience preferred, OR Bachelor’s degree plus one year of direct care experience preferred. Maintains all required licenses and certifications. Valid California Driver License and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
Additional Requirements
Travel occurs primarily locally during service hours; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required to meet the needs of the families served. Be part of a team committed to providing excellent and quality services with positive outcomes for families and children. Knowledge of behavioral interventions and experience implementing these with youth who display severe behaviors (e.g., physical aggression, verbal aggression, defiance) is highly desirable. Ability to work a non-traditional schedule to meet family needs, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and/or late evenings. Ability to travel and work in community and home environments. Strong computer and typing skills to complete documentation. Experience in a Residential Facility, Group Home, or Probation setting is highly desired. Knowledge of resources in the service area is a plus.
