Assistant Director of Water Supply Management

Responsible for strategic policy and programs related to the development and management of water resources. Lead all aspects of water resource planning and project development from initial planning and conceptual development through project design and construction. Interpret laws and formulate recommendations regarding rules, regulations, policies, and programs including local and regional community impacts. Overview Lead the development and management of water resources, including water resource planning, project development, and conservation efforts. Responsibilities Directs division activities including analyzing and forecasting supply and demand, projected water delivery, use & storage to ensure effectiveness & efficiency. Identifies and analyzes conservation and customer trends Determines methodologies to implement changes Manages Wesley Seale Dam & Choke Canyon Reservoir to include intergovernmental relations coordination Manages aquifer and storage district Leads team of professionals towards divisional and departmental goals Oversee the development and implementation of effective practices to ensure responsible development and management of the system's water supplies Apply advanced knowledge of hydrology to ensure sustainable development of water supply projects Apply and interpret local, state, and federal laws, as well as regulatory programs Manages drought contingency plan and water conservation plan Develop and implement short- and long-range water and reclaimed water system supply and infrastructure planning, programs, and personnel that provide administrative, managerial, program planning, and evaluation Manage the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of water resource projects Oversee water supply acquisition and leasing program Manage complex contractual relationships with water utilities, landowners and other governmental or non-profit entities in fulfillment of water resources Represent the City of Corpus Christi at local, regional and state levels associated with water resource planning and conservation Represent the department at City Council meetings and external public organizations, boards, and commissions Manage stakeholder engagement that applies to water supply Develop, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures Investigate grant and resource grant opportunities Assist in preparation, presentation, and monitoring of departmental budget Regularly prepares agenda items and attends council meetings to present data as requested Manage team of water conservation and water resource professionals. This includes efforts that educate the public on water conservation programs and goals May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Seven (7) years of experience in water resources or environmental / conservation management field Licenses and Certifications A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Working knowledge of federal environmental laws and regulations (i.e. Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act) Strong leadership and relationship building skills The City of Corpus Christi is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
