A Fire Lieutenant supervises firefighting teams, manages emergency responses, and ensures safety protocols are followed while providing training and public education.
Responsibilities
Supervision : Oversee the daily operations of a firefighting team, including assigning tasks and evaluating performance. Manage personnel during emergency responses and ensure all safety protocols are adhered to.
Emergency Response : Respond to fire, medical, and hazardous materials incidents, taking command and control until relieved by a superior officer. Participate in direct firefighting activities and emergency medical care.
Training and Development : Conduct training sessions for new firefighters and ongoing training for existing staff. Educate team members on firefighting techniques, equipment operation, and emergency medical procedures.
Public Education : Engage with the community to promote fire safety and prevention. Conduct public demonstrations, station tours, and educational programs.
Administrative Duties : Maintain records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Involve in equipment inspections and maintenance.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the field.
HS or GED.
Must meet Emergency Services Certification Program (F&ESCP) standards.
Fire Officer I.
Firefighter II.
Driver Operator.
Hazardous Materials Operations.
Technical Rescue.
EMT – Basic.
Fire Inspector I (Desired).
Fire Instructor I (Desired).
