Responsibilities
Responsible for evaluating and assessing the risk of Prime, Jumbo & Non-QM mortgage loan scenarios to ensure they meet company policies, investor guidelines, compliance, and industry regulations
Serve as the primary point of contact for the scenario desk, addressing inquiries encompassing a wide range of topics, including:
Responding to asset-related questions
Clarifying occupancy-related issues
Title, appraisal and insurance questions
Provide upfront income analysis for the following:
Wage/Salary
Self-employment
RSU
DSCR calculations
Asset depletion
Bank statement
Other variable types of income
Work with product development on program offerings and launches
Handle investor updates
Manage program matrices and sales support tools
Train sales partners and underwriting department on investor programs
Communicate income analysis results to sales/team members
Log and track all income review requests
Support underwriting, credit policy and product development with tasks that arise surrounding the scenario desk, including:
Investor relations
Collaboration with other departments
Assist team lead with tasks that arise surrounding the scenario desk, including:
Facilitate the preparation of exception requests received upfront on the inbox to review prior to escalating to team lead to ensure loan parameters meet general guideline requirements aside from variance outside guides being requested
Help develop resource tools to increase productivity and proficiency
Triage and elevate difficult/advanced questions to team lead
Train on and increase knowledge of loan programs to provide additional scenario coverage on desk for the following programs:
DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio)
Bank statement programs
Asset depletion programs
NON-QM products
Jumbo products
New products that are rolled out on new investor loan programs
Qualifications
At least 5 years of Prime, Jumbo, NON-QM and conventional underwriting experience
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, One Drive) and Adobe Acrobat, navigating the internet, and generally tech savvy
Knowledge of investor guidelines and overlays
Meeting company turn times and metrics
Navigation of multiple investor portals
Meticulous with a focus on accuracy, demonstrating extreme attention to detail and critical thinking
Demonstrate a history of effective, proactive, and precise verbal and written communication
Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task, manage time, problem solve, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Initiative-taking attitude towards learning and staying updated on industry standards and development
Professional, friendly, courteous, positive, collaborative, and client-centric that supports multiple departments
Preferred Qualifications
Jumbo & Non-QM experience preferred
Experience with MD (Mortgage direct)
Ability to triage and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Five (5)+ years of underwriting conventional underwriting experience in a Correspondent environment
The expected salary range for this position is between $90,000.00 - $119,400.00. The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
