The Role We Want You For The Mechanical Preconstruction Director will lead specific estimates and guide team members. Responsibilities include accurately calculating project costs by preparing budgets for Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Process Piping/BMS for projects in pursuit and awarded projects. Candidates should be well-organized, communicative, computer literate, and experienced in construction estimating, especially in complex projects like EV, Semiconductor, Food & Beverage Manufacturing facilities.
The Specifics of the Role
Review RFP or design documents to understand scope, develop RFIs, focusing on complex, large projects.
Coordinate with project team for takeoff, estimating, constructability, value engineering, and scope reviews.
Estimate and complete pricing from conceptual design documents.
Take off materials and prices, identify subcontractors, solicit quotes, and estimate field labor.
Build relationships with material suppliers and vendors for current pricing.
Maintain relationships with subcontractors to verify market conditions and labor issues.
Update subcontractor and material costs within estimating software.
Create data for conceptual estimating measures like man-hours, cost per unit, etc.
Requirements
15+ years of estimating experience in electrical systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Trimble preferred.
Ability to review bid documents and identify design or value engineering opportunities.
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Leadership, safety awareness, follow-up skills, coaching, and teamwork experience.
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Additional Information
Travel required due to nationwide projects.
