Position Overview Are you looking for an opportunity to be a part of a new, emerging nuclear market? Our nuclear safety culture is strong at Kiewit Nuclear Solutions. We are seeking experienced Structural Estimating support to join our team. Your role will be essential to our operations, ensuring that your contributions are valued and impactful within Kiewit Nuclear Solutions. The Structural Estimator is responsible for material takeoffs, cost analysis, preparation, and presentation of discipline estimates to leadership and stakeholders for large and complex projects. The position also involves the maintenance of historical databases while assisting in the development of department procedures. The targeted markets include but are not limited to Nuclear, DOE, and DOD contracts.

Responsibilities

Review RFP to determine scope of work and estimate requirements

Perform quantity takeoff development from drawings, specifications, and other related documentation

Develop an estimate to support proposal creation and bid submittal documents, especially when it comes to complex pricing sheets (e.g., bid forms, bid tabs)

Determine labor, material, construction equipment, subcontractor, and other direct cost for self‑performed construction execution

Analyze crew structures for composite rate development in union, merit shop, and prevailing wage labor markets

Learn and become a subject matter expert with InEight Estimating software

Align bid packages to proposal requirements prior to being issued to subcontractors and vendors

Evaluate Quote Comparison Sheets once subcontractor and vendor pricing has been received

Be involved with the construction execution plan, and upon project award, it is expected that the basis of estimate will serve as the actual plan for construction

Assist the Lead Estimator in identifying and mitigating risk and performing cost analysis

Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external team members

If necessary, assist in customer presentation preparation

Determine project successes and areas for improvement by analyzing past cost from ongoing and completed projects

Upon successful contract award, assist with project initiation by conforming the estimate while working with business, project controls, and the production team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering/Technology, or equivalent extensive and related work experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy industrial construction ($50M+) with emphasis on concrete or structural steel

Detailed experience with concrete or structural steel including development of quantities and estimates from construction document hand take‑off as well as model export methods

Exceptionally strong attention to detail

Ability to develop detailed estimate and project documentation

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to confidently present technical information to project stakeholders and leadership in a clear, concise, easy‑to‑understand manner

Demonstrate advanced skills with Microsoft Excel

Base Compensation:

$95,000/yr – $99,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
