Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
Manage parts inventory and company‑issued service equipment, performing periodic reconciliation.
Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities, and allocate time effectively.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as needed.
Document work on Repair Orders (RO) using company‑issued iOS devices and the TRAIT application.
Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
Work independently, managing own daily schedule.
Maintain high productivity, meeting standard repair times whenever possible.
Source parts from approved local and national vendors as required.
Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain repair estimate approvals and purchase order numbers.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field (alternatively, any level degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience).
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job duties.
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining).
Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license with a clean Driver Qualification File.
Demonstrate safe driving practices.
