Lincoln Regional Center (LRC) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and professional teammate to join our Behavioral Health Division as Maintenance Specialist I. In this vital role, you will help ensure a safe, secure, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors at LRC—a 24-hour, Joint Commission-accredited state psychiatric hospital. Hiring Rate

$21.836/hour

Plus $3.00/hour facility differential pay

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Occasional weekend shifts (approximately every 8 weeks)

Occasional 2nd and 3rd shift work required to complete fire safety drills

As an Environment Of Care Specialist, You Will

Reduce and control environmental hazards and risks to prevent accidents and injuries.

Maintain safe conditions for patients, staff, and visitors.

Conduct daily safety walkthroughs of assigned buildings and document findings.

Monitor and conduct audits to verify compliance and identify risks within the care environment.

Provide training related to identified gaps, risks, or regulatory requirements.

Conduct regulatory and accreditation drills and exercises, including documentation, evaluation, and follow-up corrective actions.

Review patient and staff incident and injury reports, enter data into tracking systems, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Perform risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Develop agendas and facilitate Environment of Care subcommittee meetings.

Assist with the development and revision of policies and procedures related to Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management.

Plan and deliver training to staff on applicable standards, regulations, and safety practices.

Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Emergency Management Certification

Experience working in a healthcare setting

Certifications such as Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)

Knowledge of:

Building maintenance and environment of care safety practices

Occupational hazards and safety precautions in healthcare maintenance

Fire codes and fire prevention regulations

Experience performing safety inspections, investigations, and delivering safety training

Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and train others in accident prevention and safety

Other

Must be at least 19 years of age

Must possess a valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of:

Maintenance and safety practices and procedures

Occupational hazards and safety precautions

Fire codes and fire prevention regulations

Skill in:

Basic office and computer applications, including email, procurement systems, and building system applications

Ability to:

Communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions

Read and comprehend blueprints, manuals, and reference materials

Perform skilled maintenance work across multiple building and mechanical trades

Troubleshoot issues and determine necessary materials and equipment

Perform physical tasks including manual labor, working in tight spaces, and climbing ladders or scaffolding

Conduct inspections, identify safety hazards, and educate/train others on accident prevention and safety
