All About Assets Protection The Assets Protection team safeguards guests, staff, and the brand by mitigating short‑falls, theft, and fraud. We build relationships with store leaders and public‑safety officials.

Skills

Lead a security culture, crisis response, and crowd‑management planning.

Prioritize daily/weekly workload to support business goals.

Respond to theft incidents and prevent future loss.

Resolve external theft and fraud in accordance with Target policy.

Partner with store leaders on operational shortage priorities.

Lead and develop a team of hourly staff, including interviewing and performance management.

Responsibilities

Ensure product availability and engage guests at the front of the store.

Validate security and safety processes; participate in crisis responses and create security plans for events.

Educate teams on emergency preparedness.

Co‑coach and lead staff to elevate skills.

Anticipate staffing needs and plan talent around accountability.

Identify theft and shortage trends.

Develop tactics to reduce shortage risk.

Work a flexible schedule including overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.

Schedule the team based on security trends.

Own prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents.

Initiate internal investigations as directed.

Educate store leadership on best practices and audit execution.

Implement operational changes as directed.

Order merchandise protection devices and manage the allocated budget.

Communicate AP priorities to the team and leadership.

Build trust with leaders and law enforcement.

Collaborate with partners to analyze industry trends.

Recommend candidates for open positions.

Support onboarding and close skill gaps through training.

Lead by example in ethical conduct and compliance.

Maintain required training and serve as first responder for safety incidents.

Model safety culture through monthly meetings and hazard corrections.

Participate in legal proceedings to represent Target’s interests.

Support merchandise protection strategies across the store.

Greet guests and create a welcoming experience.

All other duties as needed.

Key Qualifications

Age 18 or older.

High school degree or equivalent.

Meet any state or local licensure and/or legal requirements.

Previous retail or loss‑prevention experience preferred.

Ability to lead and hold others accountable.

Operate handheld scanners and multiple devices.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Prioritize tasks and manage workload.

Approachable, helpful attitude.

Effective communication skills.

Additional Requirements

Access all building areas.

Interpret instructions and reports.

Climb ladders.

Apprehend subjects per policy.

Handle and move merchandise up to 40 lbs.

Reliable attendance for flexible schedule.

Remain mobile for entire shift.
