Benefits Consultant Responsibilities

Assist in development of the strategy and/or plan/program design to support assigned Benefits Areas; work with external consultants and vendors to map short‑ and long‑term strategies; evaluate systems and processes and advocate for improvements; conduct demographic and financial analysis to vet potential design options; attend and present to department and organizational leadership to gain alignment; maintain subject‑matter expertise including knowledge of external market trends, benchmarking, current regulatory landscape and internal processes.

Determine relevant metrics for ongoing measurement; coordinate procurement of metrics with analytics; report on relevant metrics.

Keep abreast of changes in employee relations; practice consistent, standardized processes; recommend policy changes responding to regulatory, environmental, and HR field advancements; interpret policies and counsel regarding employee responsibilities and rights; proactively identify, manage and facilitate equitable resolution of job‑related complaints; conduct internal investigations and report findings; ensure consistent practices and decision‑making to mitigate risk and promote an ethical work environment; identify, analyze, and provide conflict‑resolution practices; recommend strategies to address current and future employee‑relations needs.

Own execution of the assigned strategy, plan or program through project management including resource allocation and meeting cadence; coordinate with internal communications for key messages; work with vendors; coordinate with HR Operations, payroll, finance and legal to operationalize; review and update corporate policies annually; recommend and lead policy changes; execute policy changes with Benefits Team and HR Operations/HRIS partners; serve as escalation point for exceptions and appeals; review current plan or program, resolve or escalate appropriately.

Own vendor relationships for assigned Benefits Areas: day‑to‑day contact, contract ownership, performance guarantees, renewals, RFP oversight and vendor selection; facilitate vendor transitions.

Participate in leading the development, implementation and maintenance of competitive benefit and reward plans, practices and policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

5+ years of work experience in a related discipline.
